pix & social networks

Many members of the Muslim community upload pictures of themselves, friends and family on to social media apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Snapchat to name a few.

It is important to remember any photo posted can be seen by countless other people. As such, it is a good idea to not post any picture that supports false beliefs, supports haram (forbidden) activities, or encourages corruption.

think about it!

You might post a picture that reminds people of their true faith (as devout servants of God) and brings them closer to God. In this instance, you might receive thousands of good deeds due to one upload. On the other hand, you might upload a photo or picture that draws people away from Islam, and in turn receive thousands of sins due to a simple post (may God protect us all).

display of self

As for personal photos, it is very upsetting to see our fellow brothers and sisters taking pictures of themselves, and displaying them in an improper way. The photos are posted in a way that does not suit a true follower of Imam Ali and a true follower of Lady Fatima (peace be upon them both). You must take care to avoid posting any such photos.

what we represent

We are the followers of Ahlul Bayt, and as their followers in the world today, we are their main representatives to society. If we behave in a good way, it reflects positively on them. If we act poorly, our behavior causes disrespect to fall on the school of Ahlul Bayt.

God says in the Holy Quran:

Help each other to be God fearing and to do good , and do not help each other to commit sins, transgress and hurt others. (5:2)

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) is narrated to have said:

The good kind of shyness is part of faith and faith leads a person into heaven. (al-Kafi: v2, p106)

A person who doesn’t feel shy about anything is a person without faith. (al-Kafi: v2, p106)
